The Creek

{ Alyssa }
Even though I'm a bit confused, I look to see Diane, "Oh, hey there! What brings you here?"

~Diane
"I, uh... I was just thinking. I apologize, I wasn't watching where I was going."

{ Alyssa }
"No worries," I grin, "don't worry about it."

~Diane
"Ah, well, thank you. Good bye."

'Now, if only I could figure out some way to... Wait. Maybe this daughter of Apollo is the solution to my problem," I think to myself.

Turning around, I simply ask, "I don't suppose you could teach me how to use those light powers of yours? I've been trying to get better but, since you're already accustomed to them, could you show me a bit of what you can do? I would very much appreciate it."

{ Alyssa }
"Oh, no one's actually asked me to do that before. . . I wouldn't mind helping."

~Lilith~
"Yeah, maybe. I just don't understand how someone's moral compass is that nonexistent..." I say, shaking my head.

"I'd like to believe that she's good at heart, but judging from some of the stuff she's done, it seems highly unlikely."

~Diane
"Well, I'm not surprised. Our powers are quite unique. But I appreciate it; let us go somewhere where there's less shade," I say, grabbing her hand and pulling her away.

~Makani
"Hmm... I think I'll have a chat with her."

~Lilith~
"No, no, don't do that," I say, eyes widening.

"You don't want to get on her bad side."

~Makani
"Why? What's she going to do?"

~Lilith~
"She'll personally victimize you."

{ Alyssa }
I sorta kinda just let her drag me away, waving to Jess as we enter a more sunny and open area around the creek.

"So, uh," I start, "would you like me to start with anything specific?"

~Diane
"Hmm... first off, how did you discover your powers? I assume you were born with them?"

~Makani
"Oh, that doesn't sound fun."

~Evelyn~
I sat in a tree watching all of the conversations around the creek.

{ Alyssa }
"Yea I was," I start, "it was more of an accident than anything. When I was eleven I was sitting around the campfire when the people around me started noticing how the light of the flame was acting funny. And we found that I was the one messing with them."

~Lilith~
"Yeah, so I would just stay out of her way. It's better to just not mess with it," I say, standing up and stretching.

"Anyways, I'm gonna head back to my cabin. It was nice meeting you."

~Makani
"Alright, I'll see you around!" I say, smiling widely.

~Diane
"Hmm, I see. Your powers are different from mine... you have access to all light, while I only have control over the light of the moon. Still, I don't think it will be a big problem. In any case, how did you begin to learn how to control your power?"

{ Alyssa }
"I did a lot of it by myself, I spent most days sitting in front of flames or any place with a strong light source. I started off by trying to bend it, making it do what I wanted it to. Once I got the hang of that I simply tried to collect it in little orbs of light," I answer.

~Diane
"I see. That is similar to how I began."

Although I hadn't been able to practice with bending light, collecting moonlight had been my first step after understanding my newfound powers, back when I had received them. I'd progressed since then, but it was good to know I hadn't missed anything.

"Where did you go from there?"

{ Alyssa }
"Once I mastered the orbs, and knew I was able to at least collect it I turned to molding. I would look at smaller objects and tried molding it from the orb shape, kinda like it was clay. I should also mention at this time the light wasn't tangible," as I speak I had opened my palm and demonstrated what I was saying, bending an orb of light into things such as a clothespin and then several shapes, "once you get the molding down, you have to start doing it from memory--like what I'm doing now. That actually seemed easier because it's memory at that point and it's not a picture perfect sort of thing."

I close my hand and cause the light to vanish, "I think after I got the molding down I focused more on making it tangible because I could control the light at that point."

~Diane
I think I'm what she says, slowing coming to understand what I needed to do. I'd skipped the molding stage completely, opting to harden the light instead and send it forth as I'd done in the woods earlier. Still, due to my lack of control, it always seemed to drain me so much that I could really only use it once or twice.

"So molding... I guess I will have to work on that. It seems like it's part of controlling light either way. In any case, go on. Although molding may not come easily to me do to the nature of moonlight, I will needless to say begin my training from there again."

{ Alyssa }
"Um," I hold out my hand again, "I really don't know what else to be honest. Everything else just sort of happened on its own. Once you can mold something and make it tangible you just go on from there," Prophemi began to take shape, "it's weird explaining it when it comes so natural to me now."

~Diane
"I understand. Thank you for your help, I honestly appreciate it. I now know what I can do to improve."

{ Alyssa }
"Sorry I couldn't exactly explain it well," I smile sheepishly.

~Diane
"No, you did your best, and that's what counts. Thank you, Alyssa. I'll see you around."

~Jayce
I walk through the creek, spotting Alyssa.

"Hey, what's up?" I say, noticing Diane leaving.

{ Alyssa }
"No problem! Bye, Diane!" My sword vanishes as Diane leaves and Jayce arrives, a large grin forming on my lips, "Nothing really, I was just helping Diane with some things. But we're done now, what have you been up to?"
