The Creek

~Evelyn~
I sat in the forest by the creek, intertwining vines between my fingers

~Lilith~
I absentmindedly reach for the water and grab a crawfish, allowing it to dangle from my hand.

~Makani
Watching the girl grab the crustacean, I float myself over to her with a gust of wind and plop down next to her.

"Hello, I'm Makani," I say, smiling.

~Evelyn~
I looked up from the vines in my fingers to see two girls interaction by the creek. I shrugged slightly before I went back to looking down.

~Lilith~
"Lilith," I say, turning my face so I could look her in the eye. I drop the crawfish, my eyes not shifting. It splashes into the water and quickly scuttles away.

~Makani
"That's a beautiful name. You're uh... aren't you Xavier's girlfriend?" I say, recognizing her from somewhere.

~Lilith~
"Uh, yeah," I say, my eyes flickering to my lap and cheeks flushing.

"Thanks, though. Is your name Hawaiian?"

~Makani
"You guys are so cute together," I say, giggling. "And yes it is; I'm from Maui. How about you?"

~Lilith~
My face reddens again at the use of the word cute.

"Just New England. I'm a Masshole," I say, my lips curling into a smile.

~Makani
"A what?" I say, confused. Did she curse herself?

~Lilith~
"Oh, nothing. I'm from Massachusetts, but I went to a few boarding schools scattered around New England. Was the weather nice in Hawaii?"

~Makani
"Ah, now I understand. I think. And yes, it was warm but pleasant for me. Did you like, um, New England?"

~Lilith~
"Yeah, but the winters were just miserable. I'm not one for heat, though, so I guess it was a good fit. Do you surf? I feel like people in Hawaii surf."

{ Alyssa }
I had been walking down the creek for some time now, trying to cool off from Kathleen. Luckily, I had sorta, so I was in a better mood.

~Jessica~
"ALYSSAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA" I scream and jump on her back, turning her over, pinning her down by holding her wrist. "WHEN DID THIS HAPPEN, I EXPECT FULL DETAILS NOW!"

{ Alyssa }
"THE HELLHOUNDS JESSICA?" I hissed, confused by her questioning, "What happened? Are you talking about Jayce and I?" I raised an eyebrow in confusion.

~Jessica~
"YES THAT!" I get off of her and sit down in the grass crossing my legs. I pull out a bag of frilly chips and start to munch on them with wide eyes for story time.

{ Alyssa }
Heat flooded to my cheeks, and I found myself sitting up with my legs crossed like her, "Well, I guess I should explain that while you were M.I.A. I met him. . . then he had asked me to the Valentine's dance that camp was hosting. I actually had a lot of fun, and I found myself liking him a lot more. So once everyone had basically told me to ask him out I did, I remember it was at Zeus' Fist and I had written out in light 'Will you be my partner in crime?'. And he said yea! So I was really happy," I say all at once, placing my hands either side of my face as the blush grew.

"But then he vanished, and I left camp for a while on some important business. When I finally arrived back I found him on the beach. We had our first kiss there, I had really missed him. . ." Trailing off I felt myself grin from ear to ear at the thought, "Oh sorry, I went a little a head there, huh?"

~Makani
"Yeah," I say, laughing as I try to keep things positive, "I can't stand the cold. And I've had a bit of experience surfing, although I'm not that good..."

~Lilith~
"Hmm. Sounds like fun. I bet Xavier surfs, I should ask him sometime..." I say, trailing off. I shake my head, my focus returning to the conversation at hand.

"Do you miss it at all?"

~Makani
"Yes, all the time. Although Camp is beautiful, there is nothing quite like home. Still, I'm glad to be here. If not, I might be dead right now. It's dangerous out there, but here I can be safe. What about you?"

~Lilith~
"Yeah, I like being at camp more than anywhere else. People are a lot more understanding... Except for Regina," I say, shuddering at the thought.

"The safety is also a really nice perk; you can rest easy without having to worry about a monster attacking you."

~Makani
"You can say that again. And I've heard some things about, um, Regina, but I haven't had the chance to speak with her myself. What's so bad about her?"

~Lilith~
"The best word I can use to describe her is bitch. She's just really rude all the time for no reason. She's kind of a hoe, too," I say, fists clenching at the thought of her kissing Xavier. Bitch.

~Makani
"Maybe she's just insecure. I've heard that bullies are only mean because they don't have any self-worth. Do you think that's true?"

~Diane
Along my walk, I make my way to the creek. Even though I'd been exhausted, I couldn't rest. All I could think about was how I'd let Selene get hurt... what if it had been the nymph? Or Sabine? I felt like a failure, and I needed some time to clear my head. I almost don't notice Jessica and Alyssa standing there until I bump into the latter, quickly looking up in surprise.
