Lance

"About what?" I ask, already thinking up excuses to get out of this.

{ Trinity }
"About why you changed," I say bluntly, trying to keep my voice from shaking.

"You've been avoiding it, Lance. I can tell something happened--you're not very good at hiding it. I want to know, I want you to be able to tell me. I don't want to keep feeling like I hate you when I'm being drawn back to you over and over again. I want closure at the most if you're going to keep acting like I've never opened up to you before. I want to know why you're pretending like we were never friends, you know, that time back before I was this "fangirl" of yours," By the end of what I was saying I was shaking uncontrollably, tears had formed and begun to fall from my eyes--something that was foreign. I didn't mean to get so emotional, and my words were more or less choppy. But I hopefully got my point across. I wanted to know, I would never be at peace until I got something.

I tried covering my eyes, but it was sort of clear that I was crying.

♦Lance♦

"Trinity..." I say softly, my face losing most of its expression.

You've hit a crossroads, Lance, you'll have to make a decision this time, my conscience mocks. Will you tell her the thing that's been haunting you for years, or will you have her leave this room clueless and hating you more then she ever has before?

Would she even understand this internal conflict?

I let out a sigh and look her in the eye, but as I start to say something my eyes fall back to staring at the ground. If I'm going to tell her, I won't be able to look her in the eye.

I cough into my hand and let out what's been on my mind.

"Do you remember my first quest? How it had seemed like everything had gone according to plan? I mean, my team and I achieved our goal, but something happened when we touched that bogus Crystal Ball that Diddy doesn't even use. We saw some things..."

"W-what did you see?" I say between keeping myself together. Was he really now finally going to tell me?

♦Lance♦

I move my head up so I can stare her in the eye, "I don't want to tell you," I say blankly.

{ Trinity }
"I see," I say quietly, looking away from him. Was that all? Was that the most I would be able to get out of him? Was that enough enough to soothe my need to know?

Maybe I'd regret asking, after all who knows what he'd answer. Or, if he'd answer at all. But I needed to ask one more thing.

My mouth opens to speak another question, "Are you not telling me for your benefit or mine?"

"It's for both of our benefits. At least, I think it is."

"Okay," I say simply. Not exactly knowing what else I could say.

"Thanks, I guess, sorry for bothering you," I mumble before turning on my heels.

"You weren't bothering me though... You never do," I say softy.
