~Lilith~
"Mhmm. Oh, by the way, do you surf?"

~Xavier
"A little. Surfing isn't big in Miami since there's not the waves for it, but the times I went back to Puerto Rico my cousins always brought me. It was nice, you know, being out on the water... I guess now I know why."

~Lilith~
"Hmm... Sounds like fun. You should teach me sometime. I've kinda wanted to learn how to surf, but New England isn't exactly a great place for it."

~Xavier
"We could always try it here, in the sound. It would be good exercise with my powers on a larger scale," I say.

~Lilith~
"Oh, I didn't think of that... That would be fun. We should do that sometime. Plus, it would be very hard for me to drown with you there."

~Xavier
"Why not now?"

~Lilith~
"Well, okay. I just need to get my bathing suit, then."

~Xavier
I slowly get up, offering Lilith a hand.

"See you at the sound in 10 minutes?"

~Lilith~
I take his hand, standing up.

"Aye aye, captain," I say, walking in the direction of my cabin.

The snake squirms and quickly rights itself, lashing out at me. I catch it's jaw on my shield and shove it away, taking the opening to strike once again.

"Uh," was all I could muster out of my mouth, I watch as she goes for it, and I decide to run at it too, hoping to at least stab it somewhere.

~Ria~

My mace impales solidly into the snake's scales, golden dust flying from the injury. I put weight onto the weapon, holding the beast to the ground.

"Candace!" I cry, hoping one good, accurate stab could take the monster out.

{ Candace }
As I neared it, my hand raised above my head. With as much force as I could I plunged the dagger deep into the snake, causing it to poof into golden dust.

"Sorry about that," I looked away, holding the dagger close.

~Ria~

I take a deep breath and look over at her with a small smile. "Sorry? What for? It's dead, ain't it?"

Straightening up and quickly scanning her over for any major injuries, I ask, "Are you okay?"

{ Candace }
"I dunno, but I'm okay," my eyes blink at the ground. It had been a while since I had used my powers on anyone, let alone a monster.

~Ria~

"What did you do back there? It froze up for a minute. Was that you?"

{ Candace }
"Yea, that was me," I frowned, "I might as well explain it now, but that was my power. When I look into someone's--or something's--eyes I apparently generate their worst fear in their mind as if it was playing out right in front of them. That is, until I look away from them."

~Ria~

"Oh."

"That's pretty neat."

{ Candace }
"I guess, I never really liked it. I have a hard time breaking away when I do it."

~Ria~

"Less neat," I admit. "Still, it even works on the big, nasty monsters. You'd be great on a team."

{ Candace }
"I guess that makes sense. But people would rather stay away then team up," I sigh, shrugging.

~Ria~

"Can't force an idiot to think, I guess. Their loss."

{ Candace }
I find myself laughing, "That's true."

~Ria~

I let out a soft chuckle as well when she starts to laugh. "Well, you had enough of the woods yet, or do you want to stay?"

{ Candace }
"I. . . think I'm done for today," I answer.

~Ria~

"Sounds okay to me. You interested in heading over to the Mess Hall to grab a bite?"
