| Name: Claudia Dilogos Nicknames: None Age: 19 Gender: Female Sexuality: Pansexual Personality: At a glance, Claudia seems deeply calculating, forever weighing objects in her mind to decide their relative values, perfectly congenial but utterly unswayed by human passion. A more detailed inspection of her psyche, however, reveals that the reverse is true: Claudia is not calculating, but calculated, a careful front of mechanical perfection to conceal the delicacy of the workings underlying it. Above all else, Claudia cannot bear to be exposed. Looks: Claudia is tall and slender at 5’8, with skin the color of cocoa beans and regal features, with high cheekbones and full lips. Her eyes are a dark shade of amber, and she keeps her curly hair trimmed close to her scalp. Dark tattoos in the shape of stylized eyes run down her back, her arms, her legs, covering her head to toe, and her teeth, when she smiles are very, very white. Divine Parent: Pheme, Goddess of Rumors Powers: Claudia’s powers are subtle, slow in working, and terribly, terribly dangerous. The most powerful of these is less an ability she can use than a fact of her nature. Imagine a tarp, stretched out tight, with water poured on it edges. As long as the tarp is held straight, the water remains static. If, however, a weight is placed on the tarp, it will deform under the weight, creating a downhill slope and causing the water to collect in the depression created by the weight. Claudia is like the weight placed on the tarp, but not for water. Information—rumors, gossip, stories—simply flows to Claudia without any effort on her part. She can’t pick and choose what tidbits come her way, but that hardly matters, since eventually, everything does. Beyond that, Claudia also has a limited degree of telepathy. She can read the opinions of those around her and influence them, though not far; she cannot turn love into hate or apathy into passion, but she can fan dislike into hatred, dull love to fondness, or stir neutrality to grudging admiration. Finally, Claudia knows how to manipulate the Mist and is quite capable as a sorceress. Backstory: Relative to other demigods, Claudia’s life was by no means unusual until just three years ago. She was born in Atlanta, Georgia, and was taken to Camp Half-Blood when she was twelve. She spent the next four years dividing her time between summers at Camp and school at home in Atlanta, and she became the counselor for Pheme’s tiny cabin at fifteen—a position she technically holds in absentia to this day. Then, when she was sixteen, the nightmares started, even worse than the typical demigod dreams of monsters and violence. Claudia never spoke about what she saw. She consulted with oracles, official and unofficial. She began hunting for secrets. When she found them, they changed everything. Claudia disappeared that summer. After a few months, she was presumed dead. Then, two full years after her disappearance, she reemerged as the master of the Tower of Bliss, a haven of festivity and self-indulgence: the nightclub of the gods. From her seat in the Tower, located, of course, in New York City itself, in the very shadow of Mount Olympus, Claudia quickly established herself as the world’s premiere information broker. Anything you want to know, she can probably tell you—if you can afford her prices. They’re never cheap. She still puts in an occasional appearance at camp, but she doesn’t belong there anymore. She’s seen too much now. It’s only a matter of time. Strengths:
- If knowledge is power, then Claudia deserves her own seat on Olympus.
- Claudia also has a fair amount of influence from her position as the current master of the Tower of Bliss.
- Claudia is by no means an unattractive woman, and she’s quite willing to use that fact to her advantage.
- Claudia is extremely intelligent, with a mind more than capable of putting everything she knows to use.
Weaknesses:
- The secrets Claudia discovered three years ago were made secret for a reason. If the Olympians learned what Claudia knew, they’d be less than pleased.
- While information gathers to Claudia like matter into a black hole, she has no way of sorting what is true from what is false save by her own considerable judgement.
- Claudia’s control of the Tower of Bliss does not come without certain obligations—obligations which, in the end, might very well destroy her…
- Claudia’s fatal flaw is Ambition; she loves power in all its forms—knowledge, money, sex—simply for the sake of having it, without a care as to whether or not it consumes her.
Weapon: Claudia rarely deals in anything so crude as physical combat. When she must kill directly, her weapon of choice is a ring filled with pit scorpion venom, with a hidden Celestial bronze barb for poisoning her opponents. Other: There. Claudia isn’t the last player in this little drama, but she’s the last for now; the final piece of the puzzle isn’t set to put in an appearance until Act II. | |
